Entry: caldera collapse induced tsunami

URI: https://registry.epos-eu.org/ncl/FAIR-Incubator/tcs-TSU/91

A caldera collapse is a typical effect of large volcanic explosions. If the eruption, and hence the caldera collapse, occur underwater, a tsunami can be generated because of the subsidence of the overlying water mass. Hence, the tsunami propagation starts with a leading trough. The amplitude of the tsunami initial condition is a function of the geometry and of the duration of the collapse.
